ABOUT JEB DENNIS PIANO STUDIOS
With many active students from all over Fairfield and Westchester Counties, Jeb Dennis Piano Studios is one of Fairfield County, CT’s premier private studios. Students love to come here and then go home to practice!
Why are things so different here?
I’ve come to know what students really seek: they want to learn to play more easily, to play the songs they like (not just songs in lesson materials), to know the most ideal ways to practice, and to learn how to get lasting results on their oqn. After all, who wouldn’t keep building their motivation to play, after succeeding consistently?
Music-learning starts in lessons, and isn’t just left to students to do at home. Students leave their lessons inspired to go home, practice and accomplish more!
This is very different from what many students experienced who stopped lessons. We are leaving tired, traditional piano lessons in the past.
HOURS and LOCATION
The studio is located at 14 Overbrook Road in Norwalk. It is conveniently accessible from the Merritt Parkway/Hutchinson River Parkway, I-95, and surrounding local roads. Opening slots are now on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I began playing at the age six and studied under several teachers from various piano lineages. I’ve had the privilege to work with many renowned pianists, all who have toured around the world. Through their mentorship, I’ve realized just how important the master-apprentice relationship in music really is (much like martial arts). The more one receives, the more that is required of them.

PIANO LESSONS FOR STUDENTS IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY
Jeb Dennis Piano Studios is located locally in Fairfield County, in the Cranbury section of Norwalk, just minuted from I-95 and Merritt Parkway. Are you looking for convenient, local lessons? Consider many of the advantages:
Piano Lessons Close to Me in Fairfield County, for Kids and Adults
The Studio is convenient to you, around ten minutes or less from any main highways.
It can be difficult to find a local piano teacher that offers truly great lessons. Here lessons are both serious and fun. But for students who are considering going to music school, enter competitions, or are already established performers, my advanced coaching program may be a great fit (see Coaching tab above for more information).
Students love playing songs they already know. They’ll receive both the fundamentals of music, plus easy ways to enjoy playing their favorite music!
For some students not interested or unable to have a piano, I can recommend the best acoustic or digital keyboards to buy. There are also several music apps like Synthesia to help with practicing right on your smartphone!

HELPFUL TIPS TO ENSURE A TEACHER IS GREAT FOR YOU:
1. The teacher teaches for you, not for themselves. Unfortunately, many teachers are too focused on winning competitions, static milestones, have too rigid a curriculum or approach, or may overlook what music students REALLY want to learn. Ask your piano teacher what their goals are for you or your child.
2. The teacher offer a trial lesson to make sure the fit is right for both. If the teacher has done an effective job, it will be clear if a long-term relationship will happen. That foundation can then be built upon over time. Parents: Observe the teacher in action – how well do you feel your child fits to their teaching style?
3- How does your piano teacher motivate you or your child? Both rewards and warnings could be helpful or harmful to a student’s long-term progress…it depends how it’s done. Ask your piano teacher how they motivate their students! A dedicated teacher motivates students to play by making learning easy and custom to each student! People more naturally want to accomplish things they feel are easier, including learning piano.
MORE ABOUT ME
I started lessons at seven, went to study with renowned teacher Juliet Shaw and her daughter Sandra Shaw-Murphy, and then university-level training at 15 with Dr. Karen Shaw of Indiana University-Bloomington. I also coached with Ingrid Clarfield of Westminster Choir College, and later graduated from Indiana with a Bachelor in Piano Performance and Minor in Business. In 2010, I earned a Masters in Piano Performance from State University of New York at Purchase, under pianist Stephanie Brown.
I’ve participated in numerous state, national, and university competitions and received many piano awards. I’ve performed both the Grieg Concerto and Mozart’s Concerto K. 450 with CT orchestras.
Many collaborations have come my way: I’ve performed for keyboardist/composer Anthony Newman, in masterclasses of master-pianists Leslie Howard, Steven Lubin, David Dubal, Paul Ostrovsky, Sarah Davis Buechner, Jeffrey Swan, German Diez, Karen Shaw, and Leonard Hokanson; and with diverse artists including tenor John Easterlin and sitcom/Broadway veteran Diana Canova, baritone Jonathan Hays, and others.
After studying piano with Randall Atcheson at age 10, I’ve re-connected to become his Assistant Organst/Choirmaster at three different churches, most recently at First Presbyterian, Greenwich. It was a joy attending Yale School of Music’s summer Church Music Clinic, working with Yale organ faculty Martin Jean and Thomas Murray.
I’ve also coached with piano pedagogue German Diez, protégé of Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau. I maintain teaching studios in Stamford and Norwalk, CT, and coach promising young pianists. In November 2016, I founded a new hybrid ensemble/music company Jennesis Music Group (where the principals can either play AND/OR conduct business!), with an inaugural concert of Brahms and Beethoven Violin Sonatas. Jennesis’ concert presence is growing, with consulting help from a classical artist agency.
MY greatest inspiration is connecting with audiences and deepening their concert experiences….and equipping students to realize their music goals, and beyond!
